Physically distanced - Spiritually connected through Creation:

Everyone welcome!

This Thursday evening, June 18, at 7 pm by Zoom we will talk about healthy forests.
The Healthy Forest Coalition is an alliance of organizations and individuals (approximately 1500) united to raise public awareness of the critical state of our forests and the need for fundamental reform of forest policy because of mismanagement and current practices that have and are depleting the soil and compromised the forests’ capacity to regenerate, threatening to indigenous species and their habitats, as well as the forest economy. The goal: the forests can again become a great ecological and economic asset for Nova Scotia.
The Migratory Birds Convention Act says it is illegal to destroy or harm birds or their nests but the law isn’t being enforced. A silent season for the machines, a singing season for the birds would be a great step towards protecting the biodiversity of Canada's forests. For the Birds is our campaign to celebrate and protect the birds that fly thousands of kilometres each spring to nest in our forests.
Our guest this Thursday is Nina Newington, a writer, gardener and activist. She and her wife live in a ramshackle farmhouse on the North Mountain of Nova Scotia on the traditional and unceded territory of the Mi’kmaq people. Her new novel, Cardinal Divide, is due out in September.
